Bringing People Together
The Royal Voluntary Service
For 80 years and at every part of Britain’s history since, WVS, today Royal Voluntary Service has inspired more than three million ordinary women and men to give their time to help others.
RVS wants to help create a society where everyone feels valued and involved whatever their age. As a charitable organisation they have got ambitious plans for the future, aiming to reach two million older people in the next ten years. It’s incredibly important as the UK’s older population is growing and needs more support. With this ambition in mind the RVS saw retail propositions as community hubs, bringing people together and creating social experiences.
We approached RVS and offered to use our expertise as retail design consultants to help them realise more revenue from their considerable assets. RVS were operating hundreds of retail outlets in hospitals throughout the UK but we could see the opportunity to modernise the brand to maximise profit whilst increasing awareness of their charity.
We highlighted the need for RVS to be more customer orientated, to innovate, to compete on a level playing field with other high street brands and to be more commercially viable though the development of tea points, cafes – Tea & Co and convenience stores – Shop & Co.
